Fans de la calidad digital con valor agregado
Grupo Fogra capitaliza su apuesta digital con la tecnología de HP Indigo.
Por iniciativa de Olivier Dubois y Betty Van Cauwelaert, hace 35 años nació Grupo Fogra como una pequeña empresa dedicada a la fotomecánica y a la impresión. Para 1997, Javier Cruz se suma como socio. Especializada en el offset de tiros medios, con el paso del tiempo la compañía se vio en una encrucijada por la reducción en los volúmenes de sus pedidos.
María Eugenia Arn, actual directora general de la compañía explica: “Nos anticipamos a lo que venía gestándose, los tiros empezaban a bajar. El mundo digital empezó a crecer, la comunicación empezó a cambiar, aparecieron los dispositivos digitales y el multimedia. Es justo cuando empezamos a trabajar y planear un poco cuál sería el rol de la impresión convencional. Interpretamos que mucho del trabajo que nosotros hacíamos se iba a ir a la parte digital”.
La elección de HP Indigo
Como una decisión “radical y arriesgada”, Maru Arn recuerda su decisión por revolucionar su negocio y enfocarse en la impresión digital. “Fuimos de las primeras empresas en México en empezar a imprimir en digital. HP era cliente de Grupo Fogra, y cuando HP compró Indigo, decidimos que solamente íbamos a producir en prensas HP Indigo. Experimentamos mucho y el conocimiento del mercado y de los equipos de HP, nos permitió lograr los resultados que hasta hoy tenemos. Fue una visión de negocio en que acertamos”.
Uno de los retos más importantes de Grupo Fogra es que entre su cartera de clientes se encuentran compañías de diversos giros como editorial, arte, impresión comercial o agencias de comunicación. Ante esos nichos tan diferentes y demandantes, la compañía precisa garantizar calidad total en sus impresos. “Lo que enlaza a estos nichos es que buscan altísima calidad, y por ello terminan trabajando con nosotros. Desde el inicio de HP Indigo nos gustaba mucho la calidad de impresión respecto a las otras marcas, era por lejos, muchísimo mejor”, asegura Arn.
Evolución digital
Grupo Fogra se ha convertido en una compañía insignia y ejemplo de cómo es evolucionar con la tecnología digital de HP Indigo. Iniciaron su apuesta hace algunos años con un equipo 5000, para poco a poco ir a nuevas o mejores versiones como las prensas HP Indigo 7000, 7500 y 10000. La ejecutiva argentina explica que los rápidos avances tecnológicos hacen que el recambio de las prensas digitales sea más acelerado y natural.
Desde mayo pasado, la compañía ubicada en la Ciudad de México dio un paso más en su apuesta digital al poner en funcionamiento una prensa HP Indigo 12000. Este moderno equipo brinda capacidad de producción de hasta 4600 hojas en color tamaño B2 por hora, admite hasta siete estaciones de tinta con colores colores directos y pantones, y ofrece un tamaño de hoja máximo de 75 x 53 cm (29,5 x 20,9 pulgadas).
Aplicaciones geniales
Rompiendo la barrera del tamaño en la impresión digital, Grupo Fogra presentó hace unos años el libro “Latidos de México”, del destacado fotógrafo Ariel Carlomagno. El libro de arte, que mostraba paisajes de México, fue realizado en una prensa HP Indigo 10000 y su formato B2. “Ahora estamos presentando un libro nuevo en formato medio B2, “Horizontes”, de Carlos Hahn, que tiene muchas particularidades, porque la encuadernación es manual, lo que es todo un desafío, el libro tiene apertura completa, son fotos panorámicas de paisajes, y quedó muy bonito. El libro tiene muchas plastas negras, y gente muy experta nos ha preguntado incluso si tenía calado en blanco el texto, o si era tinta blanca sobre un papel negro; que lo dijera gente experta era casi un elogio para nosotros”.
Celebrando a Artes de México con Innovación
Con motivo del 30 aniversario de la prestigiosa revista Artes de México, un nuevo desafío impulsó la creatividad del equipo de Grupo Fogra. Para la presentación del número 130 de esta revista, titulada “Bestiario Culinario”, se realizó un evento especial en la Casa del Libro, de la UNAM, donde a través de una experiencia sensorial, que incluyó incluso una presentación de la Compañía Juvenil de Danza de la UNAM, se mostró la versatilidad la tecnología digital de la prensa HP Indigo 12000.
“Los asistentes al evento fueron en su mayoría diseñadores y artistas, y queríamos que a través de esa experiencia conocieran los resultados que puede dar la tecnología digital. Quisimos mostrar también la versatilidad en el manejo de materiales, pues por ejemplo la HP Indigo 12000 ya puede operar con materiales sintéticos, y eso es una maravilla que permite incursionar en otros nichos. Imprimimos un tiraje elite en digital, un tiro corto de 200 ejemplares de la revista, que la enriquecimos con diferentes tipos de sustratos, le pusimos realidad aumentada y personalización”.
Incluso, para los 14 bailarines de la compañía de danza, dirigida por Andrea Chirinos, Fogra realizó trajes de papel inspirados en el tema central de la revista. “Fue un reto hacerle un traje impreso a cada bailarín, pues son personas que se mueven para todos lados, y no es lo mismo que hacer un traje estático. Incluso los cocimos, los hicimos en sustratos sintéticos, fue una gran experiencia”, señala Maria Eugenia Arn.
Por último, la directora de Grupo Fogra explica que es momento de que los proveedores de servicios de impresión se vuelvan más creativos y empáticos con sus clientes, situación que se puede impulsar con la tecnología digital. “No se trata sólo de generar proyectos enormes y vender muchísimo, se trata de entender el mercado, qué es lo que necesitan nuestros clientes. Tenemos que generar productos de valor. Hoy no podemos decir: tengo esto y te ofrezco esto; se requiere que seamos capaces de identificar necesidades, y cuáles de nuestras innovaciones sirven al mercado y hacen crecer a nuestros clientes”, concluyó.
“Puedo asegurar que la calidad que nosotros necesitamos presentar al cliente, por el momento sólo la da HP Indigo”.
